I'm glad you're not looking for advice, because you are being ridiculous about this. Truly you are. |
I like that too! One of the best things about having a teddy is easy availability of "personalized" books and toys ![]() |
DS is 6 months old. He and his cousin will be 11 months apart. |
Yep, he gave himself that nickname. My son was Teetee for a bit. SIL may look at her son and decide he's a Theo, nicknames are funny like that |
She's a bitch to do this, but let it go. You can't say anything. She will never forgive you if you do. Let your MIL fight this one. |
As much as she has told me, Theodore was not a name she liked for a long time. She says she came across it on a blog. She was pretty convinced that she was having a girl, so they didn't think of boy names until they knew that's what they were having. (Or so they say.) |
PP here, I would get some pets and tell her you are naming them all "Teddy". LOL |
+1. I'm sure others will be talking and she'll regret it. |
Growing up a good friend's dad married one of his old friend's (second marriage). They were such good friends before marrying each other they had both named their kids Melinda and Garret. So the blended family had big and little Melinda and big and little Garret. There was one extra kid with his own name. Everyone survived. |
That is downright bizarre! |
The kids will probably think it's cool. |
I would think it less weird if she named him Thomas Edward and called him a different nickname. I don't think it's strange when lots of relatives have the same common family name -- John, Sarah, William, whatever -- but that's why you come up with nicknames. Naming him something different and calling him the same nickname is annoying. |
Yeah, just say something really obvious like how you are honored to share the name, just on the off chance that she isn't getting it, and then let it go. |
Start calling her unborn child "Teddy JUNIOR!" or "LITTLE TEDDY!" in an excited voice every time you see her. She'll name him something else I guarantee it. |
They'll think it's cool if OP doesn't make an ass of herself about it. Please just smile and let it be a fun little quirk. |
