Wow!! America. Land of the punitive. And wrong. And still punitive. And unwilling to admit wrong. And on and on. Forever. And Ever. Amen.

Suspension doesn't help anything and he's not a per se danger to others. I could only see suspension if the kid were a threat to the safety of others.

Tilden suspended a student for bringing two steak knives to school.

In the past, a knife was an automatic referral to a level 3 placement at Alternative.

no longer . . .

Now that the new code of conduct is in place, anything goes.

Suspension is bullshit in this case.

I thought they closed the alternative schools in MontCo. Why do you say it is bullshit in this case? are you talking about he knives or the marijuana?

Maybe I'm just ancient, back in my day, and I grew up without much money in a poor school system, the kids that brought pot to school were usually getting high before school and were pretty bad students. If you brought a knife to school, that was an automatic suspension. I am curious why people are against the suspension.

Alt is still open. It's being moved to a school in Aspen Hill. I'm appalled that bringing a weapon to school was simply a suspension. Think about it. If that kid were sitting next to your kid in classes, would you want him/her back?

Drugs used to follow the same pattern, but that's no longer the case.

The inmates are running the prison, folks. You can thank the state of Maryland for that.

Thank you! I thought you meant that being suspended for bringing steak knives to school was not valid.

You can thank the state of Maryland for that.

Is it the state of Maryland or MCPS policy?

MSDE - But it's for the school systems it "serves."

We need to reinstate the ban on marijuana in DC. We have lost our ever-loving minds.
