Family therapy for a mean word?

No.

You cannot make the world a perfect place for your child, he will hear words that are hurtful. If he never does he will become as fragile as a soap bubble.

I agree with the poster who said you should process the feelings around what is said, that is some very valuable conversation to have. Sometimes people who do mean things are teaching our children a valuable lesson.

You can't be this dense. Of course the therapy would be the underling reasons that lead a person to say this to a small child. Invest in a clue.
