Hearing personal stories from ob's in the delivery room? How common?

What exactly is wrong with chit chat?

For OP, I think it means the doctor isn't completely focused on her her her the entire time.

- not a doctor

You people are exhausting.

Sorry, but if you are an OB and your patient is pushing out her baby, it needs to be all about HER HER HER. Or get another damn profession.

You people are nuts! I can't even believe that there are people that want to demand that no in the hospital room talk about anything but you. Wtf? What are they supposed to do when there is nothing about you to talk about? Maybe start complimenting you? Wow, nice job shaving your legs when you are so rotund. Ooh can I massage your anus while you dialate? Shall I rub oil on your thighs while you get an iv?
As far as I can tell doctors are there to make sure you and your baby get out of the hospital alive and well, they aren't there to kiss your ass.

Right from the horse's mouth, ladies. I hope this OB isn't yours. If you're not sure, it's better to hire someone else to assist you, AND respects you. Yes, this makes a HUGE difference. Trust me.

Why in the world do you think physicians are posting on this thread? They're not - it's a bunch of moms who've given birth who don't understand why you are so weirdly obsessed with the idea that obstetricians are the enemy.

Doctors must be thrilled that so many neurotic narcissists are now going to birthing centers or trying for home births. And I delivered with a midwife, so the psycho PP accusing everyone of being a male OB, please take several seats.

Your nose is getting longer as you speak.

My OB was all business during my crash C but was chitchatting with the other surgeon while removing the placenta and stitching me up. I loved it. It reassured me that everything was hunky dory.

I'm getting the feeling that the crazy poster is just trolling. I've never in my life said this before, but it seems like it. Or she is schizophrenic, which the paranoia points to.

I just can't believe that she thinks that 1 telling a story is inappropriate and 2 there are so many OBs responding to defend themselves.

Why not simply admit to the countless problems (in your circles) voiced on DCUM? I hate to burst your little bubble, Dr. Defensive, but it's anything but your imaginary crazy woman here. I'm only one of many, and I'm certainly not the OP. We've had it with your endless shenanigans.

Why not clean up your act, instead of calling everyone else crazy?

I'm so happy to learn that I magically got a medical degree overnight. Golf, anyone?

Funny!

OP, back in the day you would be in bed, diagnosed with female troubles, having a servant bringing you your laudanum. If you were lucky enough to be rich!

Time to woman up and move past your birthing experience. It is not normal to dwell on it like this.

Many women feel that their birth experience empowered them as truly woman,
like nothing else can.
After all, no man can ever do it.
