oh no. spring break plans fell through. what to do with 1 st grader?

This. There really are dozens of Spring Break camps during DCPS a break. Even Valley Mill has a Spring Break camp that week.


I was going to suggest Valley Mill. Wonderful camp, and so different from school that it feels like a real break. If you're considering the summer it's a great way to get a feel for the program, and if the summer program is too expensive or inconvenient for you it's a nice way to get a taste of the experience without turning your routine upside down to meet the bus for 3 or 6 weeks.


I signed my kid up for summer there. Do you think spring break camp is still a little cold to do some of the things they offer?


They do different, warmer, things in spring break. For example, they spent a lot of time on crafts the year my son went. Outdoorsy crafts to be specific, using natural materials like sticks. They had a fire in a fire pit in the craft area so the kids could warm up during their time there.
