I hadn't even thought of that, but why isn't Henderson mentioned as being included at the press conference?

Personnell announcement? Yikes?!! I think PP is right. I think Henderson is out.

Also any boundary tweeks will likely be more grandfathering (no impact on lottery).

Uh, yeah more grandfathering would impact lottery. For people hoping to get an OOB spot somewhere, learning that a new group of kids is grandfathered impacts that calculation of trying determine your chances and would therefore impact your lottery picks and rankings. I'm not lotterying...my kids are where they need to be so I don't have a vested interest, but saying it would have no impact on the lottery is just wrong.

Sure it may have an indirect impact, but I'm saying it will be an extension of an already grandfathered group.

You know, I like her ok. But honestly, I went to her budget meeting at Coolidge last month and was really annoyed at all the smoke and mirrors. Asking us to discuss questions and documenting our input so that she can just pick and choose what she wants to support her ideas, no reporting out so taht everyone in the room could hear all the ideas (and criticisms) being offered up, no opportunity for questions, and to date no reporting out publicly from that meeting (or either of the other two meetings). I just don't trust her and giving her buddy from Chicago the go ahead to pursue that boys school was just the icing on the cake. No studies offered to support the idea, no nothing. Just telling us that boys of color lag behind and we need to do something. Well, OK, I agree we need to help boys of color if they lag behind everyone else but where is the data and proof that underlies her offered, hand-picked solution?

If Kaya is out it's probably because she decided to go. DCPS chancellor is a THANKLESS job! Surprised she stayed as long as she did. Good for her, if this is the case.

I agree that grandfathering is the likely tweak, but there are folks in my neighborhood who will make final lottery choices depending on whether or not we have a pathway to Deal.

I don't think they can make changes to the boundaries this late in the game, right? Don't they have to do it at least a year before the next school year? If they are making changes to the boundaries (and not just grandfathering), they would only take effect in SY2016-17. Can someone else correct me if I am wrong on this?

Regardless of whose decision it is, if Kaya is leaving, it will be announced in her favor.

Why couldn't they? The recommendations were made by the last administration. Has there ever been a "final implementation" approved by the current administration? I am speculating, Bowser wants to tweak from pressure from those that elected her, Kaya stood her ground and then end result will be announcement at 11.

Correct, boundary changes require an announcement a year in advance. They could announce that they are not implementing Gray's boundary changes because not changing boundaries doesn't require prior announcement. But, that is unlikely.

OMG WTF. I know people on DCUM don't like Kaya, but I love her. I just head her speak recently in a small group where she said she wasn't going anywhere. Please let this be typical DCUM hysteria. PLEASE.
