Prenatal Goody bag from Ob/gyn office

Nothing from my OB.
I did get a goody bag with samples at the hospital after my son was born, though.

My OB's office gave me a bag with their general instructions on when to call (simple questions during business hours, emergencies or going into labor outside of business hours has a different number), a free copy of Pregnancy magazine (with a jillion postcards inside to subscribe yourself) and some coupons and fliers that I promptly trashed.

After my second was born, at my six week checkup, they asked if I was exclusively nursing. I'd had serious trouble nursing my first and was quite happy to say that baby #2 had taken to it like a champ. Then the doctor said Ok and brought in a bag of formula samples and coupons. I just left it in the exam room. It's great to get when nursing is not going well, or if you're not nursing, but it was annoying when I'd just clearly said I wasn't interested. Probably just force of habit to bring it in, not the kind of thing that made me seek a different office for this pregnancy.

I just got a folder with informational handouts.

mine doesn't either, yet i still got a goody bag. it was basically a bunch of crap -- magazines, flyers for cord blood. it was fun to get one. i'll throw the second one out.

I just got a packet.

I got a folder with information, but no goodies. I did get a free pregnancy/childbirth book from GEHA though and that was being sold by my OB for like $20, so that was something.

They should save them for the people who really struggle to afford prenatal vitamins, and give them away BEFORE 12 weeks, when the folic acid is really crucial.

Now, I did like my free diaper bags at the Inova hospitals...I could give away the formula to friends, and I use them. Then again, I'm thrifty and not very stylish.

No goody bag (well, a bag of flyers, but no goodies...), and no diaper bag! Delivered at INOVA Alexandria in the fall and got a tote with mostly coupons. There was a nice little cooler bag in it that I use for daycare bottles, though.

I got so many prenatal vitamin samples that I'm basically not buying any myself! Thanks, goody bag!

My OB gave me the latest edition of what to expect when you're expecting.

Samples of pre-natal vitamins, a magazine, a list of helpful websites, and a handy list of what medications are okay to take.

Off topic here, but that book is just terrible. Although "what to expect the 1st year" was worse.

No goody bag, but my pediatrician did give me like $200 worth of nutramigen formula samples.

YMMV. I loved both books.

Vitamins and brochures, I think.
