great wolf lodge - all that?

After reading the bed bug registry I'd be tempted to book a room but sleep at a different hotel down the road or just wait until summer and go to one of those Northern Virginia Regional Authority outdoor waterparks. Save hundreds of dollars and not get bedbugs, yuck!

Recommend Food for Thought in town (go early, no later than 5pm if getting dinner, its popular) for kid friendly dining offsite

We went in November and had no issues with bedbugs.

We did 2 nights so we didn't have to rush. It never got old for my 3 year old.

We do the NVRPA water parks all summer long. We are going to GW in March specifically because we can't do those parks for another 3.5 months.

Already planning to eat off site when at all possible. Thanks for the Pierces tip!

Two nights is too long. Change to one if possible.

Ugh!! I so want to but my husband thinks we need 2.

We always stay two nights. That way we don't feel rushed to get in and out (and getting in can take a long time due to the check-in line). Staying two nights is much more relaxing.

GWL is expensive. But my three kids - 4, 4, and 6 LOOOOOVE it. We've never had a problem with bedbugs either. We're a family of five and rent one of the loft rooms. We do bring our own food for breakfast and lunch. There are lots of family friendly dinner options no more than 15 minutes away. My 6yo loves the bowling, arcade and wand game as well. My 4 yos could stay at the waterpark all day. We go in the winter - it's a great long weekend break. We go to the one in Williamsburg, but I am wondering whether the others ones (e.g., Poconos) are different enough to make the trip.

It's not a place for adults; it's for the kids. So temper your expectations, and let the kids have a great time!

For the short amount of time you are there, the food is fine. Is it gourmet dining? Hardly. But is it a perfectly fine option of a place to eat when you don't want to bundle up your kids (and with the temperatures we've been having, there is no guarantee it will be warm when you go in March) and travel someplace to eat? Absolutely.

We went a couple years ago also in March. I remember the cold outside from anytime I walked by an open door and watching the snow come down. For that weekend, I was so thankful I didn't have to deal with the cold and I could do everything inside. Including eating there.

You can do Cub Run in the winter time! It's indoors! Check out the pic. We love going there all year long, but, yes, if you are jonesing for a water park experience near by and don't want to pay for Great Wolf Lodge and tie up your whole weekend, here ya go!

Ack! Is this still true?

My kids are trying to convince me to go there in March. We went last year, and they had a blast! I am so dreading going there again. Mold, humidity, noise, and not so clean rooms/pools.

Any alternatives? Maybe not an indoor waterpar, but a nice resort with indoor pools with water slides? Thank you.

You could go to Massanutten water park near Harrisonburg, VA.

Definitely not all that. Kids had fun. Nothing special. I would rather take the kids to the aquarium or museum.
