return grapes to the grocery store?

Me too. I mean, it is still edible, you just do not want to eat it. You are just pushing up the price overall.

And, yes, you can return them.

Other customers mind. don't do that.

Why would you care? Someone else has potentially touched just about any produce you buy.

Why would they mind? Do they think they’re putting the tasted grape back into the bunch? Or are they going to miss that one grape if the customer ends up putting that bag back?

HT will try not to take back but if you make a scene they will. I bought 5 pounds of scallops at $24 a pound for my wife's birthday and when I got home it was literally just pieces of scallop, no whole ones at all. So, back to the store I went and made a scene about their seafood department trying to rip people off and I ended up not only getting refunded, but I also got an apology and 5 pounds of WHOLE scallops.

Now, the reason why I was handed the dregs to begin with is another post.

+1. No one cares.

You can take grapes out of the bag to get the amount you want. People do that all the time. That’s why the bags are open.

This wouldn't happen to my family because I burst out laughing just this week when I saw bags of grapes at safeway that came out to $3.50/lb. Inflation, fair wages, sure, but that doesn't make a pound of mediocre grapes $3.50. Eff that.

The Giant in Springfield on Braddock had Cherries about a month ago for.... $9 a pound. I bought some and used the self scanner to ring them up as 2 grapefruit (similar weight) just to screw the store. Sh*t is out of control.

Oh yeah Safeway had some cherries at $9/lb, but those are always so eyepoppingly expensive in the winter, that $5 or $9 /lb doesn't make a difference in the 'nope' flash decision.

You don't have to buy cherries. But ringing them up as something else is stealing. Is your honesty and integrity worth some cherries?

As someone said, this is a risk with produce. Sometimes I buy a bag of clementines and they are terrible, sometimes they are amazing.

+1 Yasssss sometimes they are mushy or have seeds. It's always a risk with clementines. But I don't return them. Come on. .

The reason groceries have a freshness and satisfaction guarantee is because they want you to come back and buy more next time. If you get crappy grapes, you are not likely to buy them again. But if you get a refund, you feel warm and fuzzy, and are more likely to give them a shot next time. It might even strengthen your loyalty to the store. The grocery also gets the feedback that the grapes are bad. So the grocery gets more money from you in the future, possibly strengthens brand loyalty, and also can perform quality control so that other customers don’t get the bad produce.

Why are you horrible?
Skip the cherries after the summer's over or buy frozen ones in a bag so you know the exact price before you pay.
Don't be a thief.

+1. This is a prole tell. Total waste of your time. It would probably cost nearly $7 in gas round trip. What’s the point. If you’re a gainfully employed adult, you should be making $7 a minute.

Returning produce is something lonely seniors do.
