Seriously. My, what problems you have OP ![]() |
Oh relax people, sheesh. Her mom went over the top and she's rolling her eyes at her. No need to pull the whole "well my mom is dead" card. Guess what? Anything we are complaining about on this forum is silly. Anything.
OP, you're mom sounds sweet and terrifying all at the same time. |
+1. My parents have a room set up for the grandkids. It's sweet, especially because one set or another of the grandchildren is over there frequently. Why does this bother you? |
![]() Tough life. |
How the f** is it going over the top?She set up a room, she didn't ask for joint custody. |
It would freak me out a little, depending on how frequently my kid was over there. I wouldn't appreciate a surprise like that, even if my mom were alive to do it.
See, the dead mom card can go both ways. ? |
I third this. |
My mom is dead, and this would irritate me if she did it. I'm with you, OP. But hey, at least it's not an in-law. |
+1. Yep, it's so much fun to explain to my kids that both of their grandmas died horrific ways |
I wouldn't like this either, OP. It would make me feel funny - like overstepping boundaries or something. |
My grandma did this for me when I was little. Even to this day it's set up with all my old toys. |
I totally understand, OP, if she has a history of boundary issues. |
I wouldn't like the surprise part. Why couldn't she have said "I plan to convert your brother's old room into a room for my grand daughter". Maybe she's a bit controlling and passive aggressive or maybe she knew you would over-react if she told you. Or maybe a little bit of both. |

This is a doting Grandma's statement to her daughter: "Honey, if you ever need to get away for a few days or if you need to take a business trip just let me know. I would love to have my grand baby at my house overnight".
LUCKY! |
