I did 6 clomid cycles and 6 IUI cycles. Gained more than 10 lb. All failed. I did 5 fresh cycles and 3 FETs. Gained additional 10 lb.
Yes, clomid will add weight in most cases, but some women do not experience any side effect. |
No. |
| Thanks. This is really helpful. If I'm going to go through something like this I would prefer for it to be a procedure with a greater success rate. Also shady grove's shared risk program is appealing g. |
| Ugh I'm sorry but it's ridiculous you are concerned clomid will make you fat. |
Why? I recall taking birth control back in the day and it made me fat and crazy. I'm not interested in gaining weight and feeling sluggish and like a stuffed sausage in my work clothes. I'm also not interested in developing adult acne but at least makeup can cover that up. |
| I had no side effects from Clomid, 50 mg dose. |

I don't remember Clomid making me gain weight. It made me kind of crazy though. I recommend taking it right before bed so its effects are masked by sleep!
For me it was the progesterone that made me swell up like a balloon. FWIW, the weight came right back off after each BFN. |
| PP again. You are perfectly entitled to worry about the weight gain so ignore the people who criticise you for it. Its bad enough that you/we have had to go through this without having to pile on the weight too! |
| What does your insurance require? For some you have to complete a certain number of IUI's before moving on to IVF. |
| No, but it may cause bloating. |
Yes, I concur. |

Clomid is awful--not for weight gain but mood swings. I felt really blue on it.
And agree with previous posters: skip the IUIs. They're a waste of time. Go directly to IVF. |
| I didn't take clomid but I did do 3 rounds of letrozole and 1 round ivf. No weight gain. |
