I think we're going to find out in the next few episodes. Looks like even though they can't stand each other right now, they will start working together soon. Actually, I thought in BB it was Saul who introduced Walt to Mike? Didn't he tell him he "had a guy"? Now I'm confused. |
First came Saul, then Mike. Jesse introduced Walter to Saul. |
| Thank you 22:51! |

FINALLY caught up on the first two episodes last night.
I can't imagine that anyone who didn't watch BB would be interested, so they cater to the crowd. I almost fell out of my chair when Tuco turned up. I have trouble committing to series, but I am on board for this one. |
| Is Chuck for sure Jimmy's brother? He looks so much older- at first I thought it was his dad (whom he called Chuck), then I thought maybe an uncle? Are people just assuming he's a brother, or did I miss something? |
No, he's definitely Jimmy's much older, very successful brother. Well, he was successful until he began having mental issues. |
|
Chuck and Jimmy/Saul look so much alike that a few times I thought it was Odenkirk playing both characters.
I didn't remember until this thread that the nail salon figured in both series....thanks for the catch-up! |
| LOVING this show so far. |
| So that was Saul working at Cinnabon at the beginning? |
| Yes, that was Saul at the Cinnabon, supposedly in Omaha. I think he is supposed to be in witness protection after the Breaking Bad finale. |

If you like podcasts, Slate has a Better Call Saul Spoiler show. They discuss the show and explain plot points. A lot of questions in this thread were answered. Also, once I read a review of the pilot, everything else started to make sense.
This covers background info from EP. 1-3: Basically Saul is now working at Cinnabon and hiding out in Omaha. When we flashback to the late 90s, he's trying to start his own law firm. Before that, he got into some trouble in Chicago and his brother had to help him out. Afterwards, he moves to NM where he used to work in the mail room of his brother's firm and go to law school. But since then his older, very successful brother has developed a mental illness that makes him a recluse because he is fearful of electromagnetic radiation. He keeps saying that he is going to get better, which means he won't pursue a buy out from the firm. Now he and Saul are both paupers. If they take any of what the firm is offering, it makes it harder for them to sue for a buyout, anyway. So now Saul is doing public defender work and trying to land a high profile case like the Kettlemans to get his firm going, which has set the plot in motion for this season. |
Roles for Mexican drug gang members set in New Mexico are limited. |

Is anyone else watching??
It is getting so good. Loved the Chuck takedown in the hearing last night. |
I really thought it would be much more of a takedown. That is, I thought they were going to use the fact that he made a duplicate copy of the tape as evidence that he was deliberately trying to ensnare Jimmy, knowing that he'd bust in and rip up the tape. Chuck admitted he had a duplicate to Kim, prior to the hearing. That never even came up. Also, the pictures he showed the judge didn't seem to "prove" anything - I was confused about why he went to such lengths to have Mike take the pictures. I guess they never really showed the end of the hearing, so maybe there's more to come next week? Poor Jimmy. I love that man. |
The court scene reminded me of A Few Good Men. I was wondering about the relevance of Mike's photos as well. I figured jimmy is free and clear but who knows. |
