Away day/work retreat ideas?

L'Academie de Cuisine did team-building cooking related exercises last time I saw their info.

"Team building" in a hotel sounds so uninspiring.

OP here - thanks for [almost] all the suggestions - I think somewhere an hour or two outside dc might be best - I agree teambuilding in a hotel might be a little depressing.
I also think Kayaking might be a little beyond some of the older and, um, less boyant, members of the team.

But hot air ballooning sounds good - has anyone done this near here? Or are there things like sailing to be done?

Can anyone suggest any websites on these actvities, haven't had much luck yet.

Try Turf Valley Country Club in Howard County , MD. They occasionally have hot air ballooning there.
