Lee Montessori Open House Tonight

Do they have plans to expand through grade 6?

Yes, they will expand through 6th.

Likely very few spots for PK4-2nd grade. 1st and 2nd grade next year will be very small (K and 1st are currently very small less than 10 kids each.)

I went to the open house as well and asked for more info on upcoming location. He clarified that ITS is definitely expanding into Lee's current space after the lease is up (2016). The are still "house hunting" with board members for future location but "are 100% dedicated to staying in Ward 5" (ward 5 is huge so that's not a great help). In speaking with him, it seems quite a complex process, so speculation on where the school will land seems to be not worth doing until the dotted line is signed. Shining Stars example shows us that. They do, however, seem to want to stay in Ward 5.

PS I also learned that they will not be expanding the school with the move - so it won't be that in 2016 there are a bunch more spots opening up That stinks for us Montessori lovers.

This isn't exactly true. They are expanding each year by adding another grade. However they are not expanding the number in each incoming PS3 class. This year Lee is PS3-1, next year it will be PS3-2, the year after PS3-3 etc.

It's not clear if IT will be moving out of the building, but it is known that Lee Montessori will be moving. Yes, interesting choice of words. The Head of School stated that there is a building nearby the current location that they have been promised....his exact words, but then he went on to say that we know how that goes because nothing is a sure thing until it is a go.

ITS isn't moving. The current location is permanent. Lee is moving after next school year and ITS will take over the entire building. Lee will be staying somewhere in NE, though they will not state where they anticipate being because they don't want to promise something they can't deliver.

Lee have committed (as much as they can, these things are never certain until the ink is dry) to staying WARD 5. This is not the same as staying in NE (though it may be, at the end of the day). Ward 5 includes some of NW - like Bloomingdale and Truxton Circle, for example.
