Anyone receive HS magnet program decisions yet?

| Seriously they could be sent out for MS magnet on Friday this week? I thought the letter said mid-February. Haven't started to get nervous for DS yet. Have a feeling he is not going to get in and take it hard. Any suggestions? Don't want to baby him but I will feel bad for him. I feel like I know the right words in sports when there are disappointments and would never offer a consolation prize but somehow for this disappointment I am not sure how to handle. Well, mavbe he will get in.... |

My son did not get in to the Takoma magnet and I think he was disappointed for one night. The next day, he moved on and I don't think he ever gave it a second thought. Kids tend to be way more resilient than we think. It's often the parents who take these things hard, and it's bad when they project that disappointment onto their kids. So, good luck, but his world won't come crashing down if he doesn't get in. |

| I think handling not getting into middle school magnets is easier for kids who are not in an HGC. At our home school only a couple of kids are accepted to the MS Magnets so it's not a big deal for the students who aren't accepted. |

TPMS magnet parent here: I may be wrong, but I thought I heard on the school listserve that the selection committee was meeting this week sometime (they posted it because they asked for parents to offer to bring snacks for the committee). So unless the turnaround is really fast, I don't see how the letters could be mailed this weekend. Although maybe they mail the same day as the decision?
