UMD Admission Decisions Coming out Tomorrow

PP of South Carolina hopeful here. I have told him he may choose if he gets the instate tuition. Maryland is the better school, of course- but I don't want him going off to MD unhappy and with a chip on his shoulder. I won't pay more for South Carolina, but if it costs the same I will let him choose.

He wants the SEC Football, being farther from home, etc.

I almost get that. The South Carolina campus is distinctive, whereas Maryland could be anywhere. On the other hand, if you like football, the Big 10 is great.

Columbia SC has a very high violent crime rate , I don't like how that high speed highway runs right through campus.

The violent crime rate in Columbia SC is off the charts. One of the highest in the country.

DS got into MD engineering. We are out of state. How are we going to pay for this? I don't want to pay sticker price when he got into 3 of our in state schools w $.
He has always wanted to go to MD
