2 hr delay

Maybe on time with early closure if it turns out bad ... ?[/quote

Yikes. Hope there isn't early closure. I'll be far enough way for an appointment that I'll be screwed.

Early Release, if anything.

I don't think they're allowed to do that anymore. Too many kids have no one at home. You can't just drop kids off at a bus stop when you don't know if they have a place to go.

I have to fill out a form every year saying what I want my child to do in the event of an early dismissal. Same bus, friends bus, carline, etc.
it hasn't happened yet but I do think it's allowed.

What school? My kids are out of elementary, but I don't remember doing this.

Oh, okay, we're in FCPS. I don't think we do that here.

Does anyone remember when Fairfax County last used Condition 4?

For situations like this, I tell my boss something like, I likely will not be in tomorrow but depending on the weather I may be able to come in late morning, or I will be in late tomorrow. I am planning to be in by __ but depending on the weather that may change. Then I update in the morning once I know which it is.

We were just discussing this tonight at dinner. My DS said he remembers this scenario of an early closing five years ago...2009-10 school year?

It will be interesting to see if they use that option. I've been told that they prefer to keep the kids in school once they're there because it can cause problems to send kids home early (no one's at home, parents get stuck in traffic, etc.). The problem is that if you keep them at school, you could end up sending them out in a bad weather situation.
