Nice school community: FFX County...does it exist?

Olde Creek ES in Fairfax. Great community. Not sure you csn predict class size, even year to year.

Really wish Vienna Elem. was our base school instead of Colvin Run.

Yes, but houses in that area increasingly expensive and/or teardowns rebuilt as McMansions -- a lot of entitlement coming in.

Westbriar used to be that way. But with projections that it will have 900-1000 kids in two years, those days are long gone. Sigh.

Vienna ES...Smallish classes, good neighborhoods, good community support. And right in town. It is a small school...

Stratford Landing. Amazing elementary school and we are happy leaving Old Town for the suburbs.

Our child attends Bonnie Brae ES and we are very happy with the school. I've heard great things about Olde Creek, though no personal experience.

No. OP said s/he wants a school community WITHOUT pretentious parents. While I know there are many perfectly nice parents at SL including PP, I have never seen such vitriol and entitled parents as I've seen at this school. Also, it is bursting at the seams.

we are in Springfield, zoned for Saratoga Elementary
Neighbors are mostly feds or Military as we are ten miles to Ft Belvoir and next to the NGA / FTB North
Moddle school and High school are iffy compared to other locations, but if you are involved with your kids they should do fine.
Good luck

We picked Vienna ES because it is a small school and no AAP program. The staff and teachers have been wonderful. However, I have not gotten the community feel that I was expecting. There were a few classroom kindergarten events and the parents hardly spoke to each other. Most of the families are also very wealthy. there is one day per week I desperately needed help with after school pick up so I asked about 5 different neighbors if they wanted to car pool. I could pick their children up from after school care three days per week if they would be willing to help us out on that one day per week. No one was able to do that and definitely not interested in car pooling. That does not make people unfriendly. We all have busy schedules and trying to juggle various responsibilities. The point I'm trying to make is that we have found that it lacks a community feel. In hindsight, a school and community like Olde Creek would have been a better fit.
