I would skip those then and find the same look with smooth arm rests (or no arm rests). Easier to clean, the better.

Would love to help you but need more details: What's the width of the space for the stools, how many do you need, how old are your kids, and what's your style? Since you seem to be more traditional, I would look at World Market, Pier 1 or Overstock. Overstock has a great selection and better prices.
