I feel very badly for the teen. I also feel very badly for any drivers that witnessed the act.

Ahh that explains al the signs I saw on that bridge when driving under it today. I thought someone was trying to bring back Surrender Dorothy. Sad to hear.

Wow. So sad. I thought that bridge had tall chain link sides and even a top to make it really hard for someone to fall on the beltway.

You are correct. It would take a great deal of effort to access the outside of the bridge and then crawl up, balance on the narrow outside beam, and slowly step towards the beltway. Very sad.

What happened? Sounds like this was a very smart boy with a bright future.

Bully, pressure, social media bullying, intense classes, possibly intense parents. Suicides and killings played out in media over and over again.

Are you talking about this particular boy or in general?

Let's not talk about this particular boy on an anonymous forum. Think of his parents possibly reading this and learning that what happened is "intense parents". A fact of teen years is that suicide is the third leading cause of death.

Here is what I tell my teens -- if you ever feel like killing yourself, ask for help. People can help.

I'm adding to this -- if anyone you know ever says he/she feels like killing him/herself, call 911. This is a medical emergency just like a heart attact.

I also say -- suicide is a fatal outcome of a mental illness. Just like people die from heart attacks & cancer which are physical illnesses that can be fatal (or can be cured), people die from mental illnesses, and it is called suicide. Sometimes the first sign of heart disease is a fatal heart attack; sometimes the first sign of mental illness is a successful suicide.

But please, let's not discuss or hypothesize anything specific about one teenager who has died. We wouldn't do that about someone who died from cancer (I wonder if his family used non-PABA water bottles, I wonder if his radiation treatment was strong enough) would we?

general. I would never post about a particular kid here. Like I said, social media has increased suicide.

Thank you. I know someone who is a family friend, and it's really no one's business what exactly happened. It's just sad for a million reasons.
