Notification process for college acceptance ?

DD heard primarily through regular mail. One called and she came home to a big envelope that day. Two were small envelopes that I was sure spelled bad news, but they were both acceptances, too. And a safety state school in Pa. mailed a postcard. No emails for us.

That was true for my DC who is now a senior - all by mail (including the small envelope that was an acceptance). But for DC who is a freshman it was primarily via portal.

DC who is a sophomore heard by portal. Fo acceptances, sometimes the portal page flashes colors, other times it plays the school fight song. You do need an email with a key code to enter the portal, however.

^^^ PS, then the portal notification was followed up by a thin envelope, which did however make it feel "real." A fat envelope with various forms, a poster and other stuff followed after that.

UVa posts in the student's portal.

Our DC received his GMU EA letter by mail. It was a great moment.
