There are different word lists for G/T kids and non-G/T kids. I've never seen it in our non-aap school. We do have it at the aap center. Maybe it is not standard to have it at fcps non-aap programs.

My DC competed along with all the other kids, both AAP and non-AAP. The word lists were the same for everyone. Maybe different schools do it different ways, but that was our experience.

There is a gold list and a blue list. Blue list is "grade level;" gold list is g/t.

This isn't how it worked in our school. My non-AAP child won top honors - surpassing AAP and non-AAP kids - in Wordmasters and was honored as such at the 6th grade graduation ceremony.

I'm not saying that any or every aap school uses both the blue list AND the gold list for different groups. I'm just telling you that there are two different lists for each grade that are offered by the WM program. I do not know which list your school used. Sounds like you don't either. If you remember some of the words, I can tell you which list it is. If they are offering it to the whole school, they might be using the blue list.

Is it the same list released throughout the country on the same day? So the AAP/GT list released in Dec. is the same list available to every school for an eligible kid (provided the school has paid to participate)?

14:42 -- yes. The both blue lists and gold lists are released to the participating schools on the same day. The competition schedule is the same regardless of the list used.

Late last week- They were given an analogies test on their original 25 words.

Good for you as our AAP center this year , in 3rd grade gives out only few words for HW to do definition (not even every week), no analogies, no word master, no spelling tests. The tests are jut on vocabulary which are less than 10 and don't even do it every week.

That's all. Most of the process seems to involve the homework of writing the definitions and sentences (which can take an extraordinarily long time for some kids).

No. My kid just took the test for challenge #2 today! They don't even know their score yet.

You can look around the internet and see if you can find them, but probably not yet.
