Stress over school decisions

I could be wrong but the comment about the weather was meant to be tongue-in-cheek! Wow!!! There are some angry people on this board.

OP... just be patient for a few more weeks. It will be over soon. Maybe YOU should take the kids and stay in a hotel for a weekend (room service, pool, movies on demand). Let your wife stress out alone with Haagen Daz and coulda, woulda, shoulda's...

I echo numerous PPs comments about cutting some slack to the dad getting through the pre-admissions period. It's stressful not knowing where your kids (and tuition money) are going.

My understanding is that Sidwell is the only 1 of the big 3 that has serious limitations on sibling preference. Beauvoir and GDS have bigger classes and can do more to make space, and that behavioral/developmental issues would be the main limiting factors. I can think of one family whose older child was at a big3 and having social and behavioral issues, and their younger child didn't get in for either the first or second try. Another family was told their youngest wasn't outright rejected, just told to reapply in a year--again the older child had behavioral issues and the younger child was disruptive in his own right. Beyond those 2 cases, I can't think of anyone else at our big 3 school whose younger child didn't get in.

Reassure your wife that everything will be okay - regardless of what happens b/c it will! Seriously - are you all healthy, have a home, job, etc...? I know this can be stressful but nothing is forever and if you don't get into the school of your choice you can reapply next year and the year after and after until you get in. Learn to laugh about it - laughter helps everything! Good luck!
