foolproof cookie for non baker

No bake cookies. The ones with oats, chocolate and peanut butter

No bake cookies usually aren't very good. Smitten Kitchen's oatmeal cookies are very easy and fast. I just substitute choco chips for nuts/raisins.

No bake, always delicious. Recommend using mint oreos to kick up them up a notch.

Buy the pretzel rods, some chocolate chips and whatever kind of sprinkles you like. Tip the whole bag of chocolate chips into a bowl and add a couple spoons of butter. Melt in the microwave.

Spread the sprinkles on a plate. Dip a pretzel in the chocolate (leave a "handle"); roll in sprinkles, and leave it on a plate covered in wax paper or plastic wrap. When you are done, rest the whole plate in the fridge for a couple of hours.

I spent a LOT of time working with chocolate and want to add: Instead of regular chocolate I would buy the chocolate coating disks that you can get at Michaels. They have more cocoa butter in them so the chocolate won't crystalize and look funny. I wouldn't add butter because that will keep the chocolate from getting as hard.

Chocolate truffles are extremely easy and delicious. Just look up a basic recipe and mix the warmed cream/butter with the chocolate and a Tbs of a nice liquor. Chill and then scoop and roll into balls (cover your hands in cocoa powder). They are REALLY yummy and REALLY easy but people are always impressed.

This is the kind of thing YOU think is easy, but the directions are puzzling to a non-baker. "Melt in the microwave" -- what does that mean? 3 minutes on high? 30 seconds on low? The last time I tried to melt ch/chips in the micro, they sizzled and fried.

The same thing with "spread the sprinkles," "dip a pretzel," "leave a handle," "roll in sprinkles," "covered in wax paper." It's all so clear and easy in your mind. Like giving a baby a bath.
