let's look at it this way, the population of the county is at an all time high, the school enrolment is at an all time high yet the county isn;t bringing in as much tax revenue as expected. I wonder why??????
Look at how much the County Executive has cut from the budget the past 10 years, this should not be happening but it is because of the haven that has been created in the county. |
but entertaining...

Look at the bolded in PP's comments. That PP stated ALL immigrants, both legal and illegal, were ruining MCPS. My statement, with sarcasm, is countering those statements. |
Fairfax County also projects a budget shortfall. What's your explanation for that? |
same thing, a lot fo free loaders who live in group housing and do not pay taxes. |
| Everybody pays taxes. |
Aren't schools funded by property tax? If so, then what about all the citizens that live in apartments? They don't pay any property tax, either. So, apt. dwellers shouldn't be allowed to send their kids to public school. So, this is a class issue. OK, I will confess... I am an immigrant. My parents didn't speak English when we came here, and my siblings had ESL services. We also lived in a 1 br apartment for a while for the 6 of us. I'm so sorry we took advantage of the public schools here, even though now, my siblings and I pay A LOT in taxes, both in property (8K) and income tax (I think one of my tax bill was about 80K one year). When we lived in those apartments, my parents probably payed very little income tax (because they had menial, low paying jobs). So again, I apologize for coming to this country, using up services, and also eventually contributing to the tax base. My siblings and I probably cost the taxpayers money in ESL services and made the schools crowded (since I have 3 other siblings). |
sadly agree. each of the last 5 years the MCPS budget has been gobbled up by additional ESOL and immigrant counseling resources, and trailer classrooms. nothing will stop the Maryland and even worse MoCo policies towards catering to uneducated, unskilled immigrants. just more flight out of the county and state, until they are out of Fun Money to blow. |
Montgomery Country has been bleeding out companies like mad for the last few years. Plus they don't know how to make feasible budget forecasts so overestimated everything from property taxes to income taxes to corporate taxes. Then on the flipside, their spending continues to be out of control. |

MCPS spends about $12,600 per student per year. Therefore, nobody should be allowed to enroll their child in school for the year until they can prove that they paid at least $12,600 in property taxes last year.
If you have two children in school, you have to have paid at least $25,200. Three children, $37,800. And so on. Also, if you are an MCPS teacher, you can't send your child to MCPS at all, because it's too complicated to figure out how much you should have to pay in property taxes per child to enroll, given that the money you pay your property taxes with comes from property taxes. (Note: this is a modest proposal, not a sincere one.) |
Uh... OK.. I forgive you?
|
What's your explanation for the shortfall in Fairfax County? |
A significant part of the tax revenue reduction stems from the federal shut down last year. |
What do you get when the majority of your immigrants are uneducated, unskilled, undocumented and illiterate in English and their own language? You get Montgomery County. Everything else (upside down budget, poorly performing schools, redistributed funds) is to be expected here, in one of the most liberal counties in the country. A far cry from educated, skilled legal immigrants on work visas/greencards or university-educated here. SE Asians and Asians welcome, perhaps your good study habits and positive values (regardless of income level) will rub off on others. |
That's not how public services and taxes work. |
