with the exception of master chef jr no way would my 9 year old watch these shows. Others have mentioned shows he likes but his favorite are the Goldbergs and anything on National Geo as well as NOVA and if you get BBC America they have a show called Nature's Weirdest, Dr. Who also. And of course the Simpsons.

There are some decent shows. Common Sense media can help you pick and choose:

My 9 yr old doesn't love TV but he will sometimes watch SpongBob, Lego stuff and Pokemon. Every once in a while, he will watch something on Animal Planet or the History Channel.

My DS is a bit younger but I really like the amazion prime kids shows (if you have amazon prime) There is Annederoids and Gortimer Gibbons Life on Normal Street. These are so much better than those ridiculous Disney Shows. That said we do watch cartoon network occasionally. All those shows are nuts but funny (Regular Show, Adventure Time, Teen Titans).

Do you forget that there are real people behind posts? Or do you just not care?

Mine likes Casper and Scooby Doo on Netflix and Star Wars Rebels on cable. He also likes the Blue Ocean series and some renovation shows.

ANother vote for Ruff Ruffman, and for Master Chef Jr. Wheel of Fortune is also a huge hit with my 9 year old. We're just getting into Star Wars Rebels -- there's a lot of fighting, but otherwise it's not too bad.
I do wish there were more shows like Ruff Ruffman out there...PBS, hear my cry!
