Encouraging applications to HGC

It is my understanding that the 2nd grade identification is required by the state and has nothing to do with the HGC application (in other words, I don't think that it identifies students as candidates).

It made a difference with the enrichment my child has received this year and her reading group. I think it provides a holistic view of the child over a couple of years

That might be true but it's purpose is not related to identifying students for the HGC.
