I'm sorry, PP. That does suck. But your comment made me laugh out loud! Hopefully, your birthday will be better!

I'm spending my valentines day with my mother-in-law who has lung cancer but still smokes two packs a day. In the house. Around all the babies. I'll probably be sitting on the couch all day "visiting" her but while watching some good quality tv like..wheel of fortune:

Anyone want to trade?

OP - sorry to hear the suckiness of your day.

But remember, it is better to give than to receive and if you don't have expectations for the day than consider it just another Saturday.

I caught norovirus from my daughter, so have spent most of the day in the bathroom.
It's also 3 year old dd's birthday today.
It has SUCKED and I feel like a horrible mother. Instead of cupcakes, Mom's on the sofa dying.

But hubby's been taking good care of us.

Me, too! I just spent 8 days in bed and I am pregnant! I was just glad to get out of bed today for a little while. Now DH has it, but not as bad. I was dying last week

Hope you feel better! Lots of fluids and take Immodium, if you can.

Oh, god I feel for you. At least I can take some drugs. I can't remember what's safe and what's not when pregnant.....being sick while pregnant is absolutely the worst.

Hope you are all feeling better soon...

A DH here... Wow, so many of you have really crappy relationships and awful husbands. My wife got our DC and me cupcakes. I love holidays because I enjoy giving gifts, though, had already gotten something small for our DH and our DS is 5 months old, so we didn't get him a gift. DW has been looking for a new purse for a while, but I wasn't confident that I'd find just the right one and she is so often unwilling to spend any money on herself, so I got her a $200 GC to Nordstroms, so she can get a nice new purse. I got her a super smushy card that expressed a sentiment about our relationship that i couldn't have done as well as Hallmark's writers. I got our DC nice cards and I also got my DD a "Hanna Tanna" card that plays music. The look she gave me when she opened the card and it played the song was priceless. Because every good husband should provide chocolate, I got DW a single piece of chocolate - only 1 because she's working her a$$ trying to lose her baby weight (and I got one for my DD as well). Also, because I thought it would be fun, I had flowers delivered to the house and addressed to DW and DD, from my DS and me. Then we went to a nice lunch and then to visit my mom. It was a nice day. Hopefully, I'll get a gift a bit later tonight....

I got two hugs and two kisses from my beautiful children, as a thank you for their valentines.

Are we married to the same man? Mine walked out the door muttering under his breath, "good job, you managed to ruin another wonderful weekend together". So, he's off to the gym and to do whatever he wants without even telling me where he's going or when he'll be back. I'm sorry but my history of Valentine's Day has been dismal since marrying him. He always manages to find me cards that say everything but "I love you". This year, it was a cat and a mouse on the cover and inside it said, "It's Valentine's Day. Anything is possible." Last year, it was a similar card reading "Our relationship is strange and wonderful. You're strange and I'm wonderful. Happy V-Day."

PP, how is your DH's moodiness stemming from his mother? Just curious b/c mine has a weird dynamic with his mom too.

She is a never wanted children, but had them anyway, and never celebrated anything with them.

and so far I have . . . been reminded of my late husband no fewer than 85 ba-jillion times. First VD since he died. Today of all days DD found the teddy bear that he gave me on our first Valentine's Day and promptly named him "Baby Bear" and started lugging it around. Everywhere. Her usually unruly mop of hair settled into a mini-imitation of her papa's loose wavy curls today. And I swear she looks more like him than she did just yesterday.

So it's all relative.

And I'm just getting over norovirus too . . . to make matters even worse.
