Non-puffy warm winter jacket for teen

J crew makes great wool coats. Some of them are even insulated with thinsulate and still very thin. She can wear a coat like that for years to come.

Calvin Klein's packable down jacket is light and not puffy.

Her objection? Down jackets are too puffy and bulky, and she thinks she looks too big in them. Not true, but some of her friends have avoided them for similar reasons.

Any suggestions for brands/styles to try?

LOL, 10 degrees where we are from is still flip flop weather! When it hits ACTUAL temps of 30 below, then my teen would wear a jacket, no matter how it made her look! We buy nothing but Coluumbia

Where are you from that people routinely wear flip flops all day when it is 10 degrees Fahrenheit outside? I'd love to hear from others who are from that same area because that sounds like so much boasting to me. I get that people from colder climates are more acclimated, but 10 degrees is closed shoe weather no matter who you are.

I grew up in New England and some people would wear shorts even in the winter. Kids and dressing for cold weather = weird.

Costco has some of those Calvin Klein's packable down jackets right now. They are in pretty drab colors though.
