Good restaurant with kids Gaithersburg/Bethesda -ish?

If you can get a table, Guapos is the best of the bunch at Rio. It's loud, which works great with a toddler.

There's 3 Marriott hotels, huge movie theator , lots of restaurants , a lake with paths/bridges/carousel/paddle boats. It's all outside with boulevards stores (dicks / target / south moon under/ charming Charlie's, joes a bank, Francesca's , loft , Barnes and Nobel .).

Dear God, don't go to the Rio.

If you want to stay in that area, try Coastal Flats in Downtown Crown.

Get some rolls or something from dinner and let the 8 and 2 year old feed the fish in the pond.

This is my kid's favorite, too. Definitely get a reservation, and aim for the earlier side.

Absolutely RIO with kids. Tons of places to choose from (bunch of brand new places across the street at the Crown now too), very kid friendly. Also Fri night should still have band playing in plaza area near Guapo's

Do people still do this type of thing? Doesn't everyone know it is bad for fish? Or do they just not care?

They probably don't care...there are signs posted around the lake not to feed the ducks/geese/fish, and they have machines that dispense feed for a quarter.

Downtown Crown is right across the street from Rio. But yes, there's a Coastal Flats there. Downtown Crown isn't any "classier" than Rio and is still under construction.

What's wrong with Rio? I think it's a great place for families/kids. IT would also be a fantastic place for the visiting kids that age to explore and have a blast.

p.s., don't feed the ducks bread - it makes them sick, and too much uneaten brea will create algae issues in the lake. just buy a handful of food from the machine. same experience, no harm!

Because the food is lousy at Rio. From Guapos to CPK to Copper Canyon to Uncle Julio's and everything in between, the food is lousy.

Copper Canyon doesn't even have a printer kids menu--they recite it to you.

The places are loud and frenetic and not geared toward conversation.
