The nurse in Spain was only working with two known Ebola patients yet she still got it. |
Not really sure what you're talking about. But anyway... |
Love it! |
|
I don't belive the story. This can't be true.
The CDC has assured us that Ebola is difficult to contract. Furthermore, this person was a trained nurse who understands Ebola more than we do. Not only that, the nurse had the best protective gear available in Spain. Only logical conclusion is the story is a lie; she could not possibly have Ebola. |
Nice try, OP. |
Are the American doctors lying also? Rick Sacra, Kent Bradley, etc.? |
What? Not OP! |
She got it from 2 people that had been in West Africa. I kept telling everyone this was going to spread like wild-fire and nobody believes me. I worked in the Reston "Ebola" lab in the 90s. Everything we learned in graduate school was that if this thing made it to US/Europe--given the close contacts and close proximity, long incubation times---it is going to be a nightmare. It was always the 'worst case' prediction in my virology courses. It used to burn out in the Congo because it would kill an entire village and it was miles and miles for anyone to walk to the next one so it would die out. The very thing that makes it so virulent and less of a threat in those areas for 'burning itself out' won't happen in our global population. |

This is very troubling.
Health care workers wearing proper PPE and treating known Ebola patients are not supposed to be getting Ebola. This nursing assistant knew she was treating an Ebola patient -- he was flown in for treatment. She wore "two coveralls, two pairs of gloves, and gogles" when coming into contact with the patient. http://elpais.com/elpais/2014/10/06/ciencia/1412611515_352524.html

I believe you. It would be nice if our leaders did. |
. This the logical conclusion. |
They are trying to quell widespread panic by downplaying the situation. Our administration dropped the ball AGAIN. Health officials told him last March he needed to do something. Too lazy and stupid. You get in front of this before it gets to US/Europe. Too fucking late now. All travel from West Africa needs to be put on hold. Only in dire/extenuating circumstances with approval and extensive screening. |

A hospital employee filed a complain about the way they were handling contact with the patient and the lack of precautions taken.
Not surprised at all. Spain is different |
