They look sincerely happy, and I like them as a couple. Never got a "gay' vibe from Clooney, although maybe a bit of Peter Pan ("not ready to grow up") vibe from him. But she's beautiful and smart, and maybe he's met his cerebral match. Good for them!

But he was getting plenty of publicity from his shtick of never getting married. He was such a confirmed bachelor that who the hell cared anymore? I don't see the value in orchestrating it now.

That makes a lot of sense, actually. She would be a terrible choice for a "beard". If you want a beard, you pick a woman who is 1) easy to fool, and 2) going to go along with whatever you want, because she's in it for the money. This lady already had money, and is certainly not easily fooled.
