I was overweight to begin with. I gained 13 pounds. |
I think knowing height makes a difference in understanding weight. Taller people can gain more weight and not lool enormous because there is more space for the weight to go. Shorter people are shorter! They can gain the same as a 5'8 tall person and look much bigger. Is that what you were asking? |
I'm 5'1". I weighed 125 pre-pregnancy, and gained 50 pounds with each pregnancy (ouch). Took me 18 months to lose the weight each time. I'm now below pre-pregnancy weight and trying to lose just a bit more. |
I am 5'-8" and gained 38lbs with no. 1. Took 18 mos to loose that plus 10 more. Not until I changed my eating and walked 2 times a day did I see results.
With #2 I started off 10 lbs lighter and gained only 25 lbs. My baby is 7 weeks old and I have 5 more lbs to go till I am back at my starting weight. Throughout the whole 2nd pregnancy I ate salads and really watched my carbs. I also had a boy for #2 which may have reduced the weight gain. |
I actually feel much better now. I am 5'3, started overweight at 145 (hadn't lost the weight from the previous baby) and am now 27 weeks at 168. I thought I had gained 40 pounds but it's only 23 pounds. Much more than I would like to have gained but much less than I thought I gained. Since I am short the weight makes me look like a huge blob. If I were 5'8 or so 23 pounds would be nothing but the shortness makes a huge difference. |
5'8," gained 45 pounds. |
I'm 5'3". Prepregnancy I weighed 115. Went up to 155 during pregnancy. Lost it all and then some by 6 months postpartum. I gained most of my weight early, and actually lost about 5 pounds in my last month of pregnancy.
I think there is a very wide range of normal with pregancy weight. I wish I hadn't spent so much time comparing myself to other people. I freaked out a little at gaining so much so fast. |
Height: 5'9
1st pregnancy: weight 196 (yuck) gained 24 lbs, child born 4 weeks early 2nd pregnancy: weight 186 (still yuck) gained 19 lbs baby born at 38w 3 days |
I'm 5'2". My pre-pregnancy weight was 115. With my first, 8 years ago, I gained 46 pounds. I gained 20 pounds in the first 4 months, and then, gained about 2-4 every 2-3 weeks, which was very normal. 6 weeks after the birth, I lost it all. Now, I'm expecting #2, and am 17 weeks. I've only gained 10 pounds so far. I'm older and wiser. I'm being careful about what to eat. |
5'-9" @ 135 lbs pre-pregancy
1st: gained 25 lbs with singleton (born 8 lbs) 2nd: gained 40 lbs with twins (born 7 lbs each) |
5'2 gianed 65lbs first pregnacy-lost it 7months due to running 5days per wk& weight watchers.
2nd preg, so far gained 26lbs at 29wks, really trying to watch, however it has been hard when your are on midified bed rest. |
5'5" and 104 lbs, gained 35 lbs baby born at 36 weeks, at 6# 3oz. last 5 lbs from pre-eclampsia water weight.
It took 3 years to return abck to shape. I was on bed rest starting at 20 wks so was not able to exercise then had a very complicated delivery requiring PT afterwards. My clos friend is 5'8" and 108lbs and gained 70 lbs, her fullterm DD was 6# 7oz and it took her about 2 years to bounce back with exercise (running) and vegan diet. But also age makes a difference. I was 35 and she 32. My SIL who was 28 and a yoga instructor bounced back from a 40lb weight gain in 2-3 month. |
I am 5'9 and weighed 115 pre-pregnancy. I gained 45 pounds, and now DD is 5 months, and I have lost it all (give or take a few pounds). The bad news? I may weigh what I did pre-pregnancy, but my body is DEFINITELY not the same. I have major muffin-top that never existed before! Just no time to tone up... |
Wow, I cannot imagine gaining 50 plus pounds. That is a lot for the body to bear! I am 5'3 and gained 25 pounds. I did this by keeping a food journal and logging my calories and food intake. My doctor suggested this to make sure I was eating quality food vs. junk food. I often had cravings but kept them in check by eating crunchy foods like apples. People gave me a hard time for turning down ice cream chocolate, etc. I didn't want to have to lose all the weight after and i knew if I started with junk food I wouldn't be able to stop because I have a serious sweet tooth. |
I'm 5'8", started the pregnancy at 142 lbs. (I'm very athletic, so I'm muscular with low bodyfat.) One week before my due date, the last day I was weighed, I weighed 195.6 lbs with clothes. That's a 50+ lb weight gain, pretty impressive/scary/ridiculous given that I worked out nearly every day during the pregnancy.
The bulk of that was water, etc. - I lost about 30 lbs in the first post-partum week. (Three days after the birth, the water finally left my calves and feet and I almost cried w/ happiness to see my "old" legs again.) the rest has slowly come off. My DD is 3.5 mos old and i've got 5-6 lbs left to lose. |
