How come no one seems to be concerned about all the "study drug" taking by our high school students?

But I don't think significant number of middle schoolers and high school students were taking study drugs meant for ADHD kids even going as far as buying those drugs on a regular basis.

I think this is not really discussed because almost all the kids buying/selling/taking these drugs are whites.

Not "may even be", it is very much illegal.

My son has ADHD and like a PP mentioned, I hope this prescription drug abuse won't interfere with his treatment.

So, apparently we have lot of drug dealers attending our high schools?

Isn't the drug issue limited to the inner city schools?

Prepping taken to the new level.

isn't it legal if a doctor prescribed the drug for "uhmm" some perceived medical needs as conveyed by the user, no the patient?

Designer drugs like these are more readily available to high SES schools. Lower SES kids don't often go to pyschs to get ADHD Rx.

This is the thing. People think the high SES schools are better, but they have some serious problems in these schools, too. Rampant drug and alcohol abuse and rich parents bailing their kids out. Think the "affluenza" kid. The drug use amongst the high achieving HSers is so scary to me. We purposely stayed away from the "rich" schools. Too much pressure and temptation in every way.

What difference does it make? A huge proportion of the kids who supposedly "need" these meds for an so-called actual "disorder" get their prescription based on an unsubstantiated opinion from a psychiatrist who observes them for an hour, has the parents fill out a few questionnaires, and boom--voila! The kid officially has ADHD. No test of any kind available or required.
Most of the time the drugs don't work or don't work for long, and have really bad side effects. Who cares if the kids are being doped one way or the other?

We should all care as a society as these kids' problems and the fallout will effect us all over time.

Scholars on steroids. Lance Armstrong should talk to these kids.

Well how come they go to good colleges and get better jobs?

High ses schools are producing the leaders and bosses of your kid, it's obviously a good thing.
