Few days in, are you happy with your school choice?

Started K. I was pretty nervous because he had been at the same pre-K for three years and loved it there, and he's not the boldest of kids.

Well, he loves it. He's said several times "this is a fun school!" and even "I like this better than [preschool]."

I am so relieved!

I think it would be fun to keep posting on this thread throughout the school year.

If I had "listened" to these threads, I would have never sent my child where DC is now. Instead, we visited, I talked to other parents whom I knew from outside of the school environment, and my DC did a shadow day (full day). That's what I recommend for anyone looking for a new school.

Good for you I agree it is asking for trouble to identify the school. This thread is uplifting and would hate to see it tarnished by bitter individuals who are not happy with their lives and take it out on institutions and teachers that work so hard. Wish they could spend a day trying to teach a class full of kids and then have the nerve to criticize. By the way I am not a teacher myself.

YES! I haven't seen my DS this happy in a couple of years. He's enthusiastic, feels great about his teachers and homework and oozes confidence. Public to private, 7th grade.

I was a little apprehensive the week prior to the start of school but they had an orientation day where our son met his teacher, saw his classroom, and parents were given information about pick up drop off procedures, lunch, etc. So far my son wakes up excited to go to school and comes home happy. It appears that its all the kids in his class, when I see them all in the morning, they are so happy and comfortable. I hope they all stay that way!

I told my son this morning that I hope he has fun today and his response was of course I will.....school is made for fun! He just started Kindergarten. Really hope that idea last all season.

Yes! Just started at an all boys school. My son is very happy and so are we!

Thrilled! The small class sizes, tailored curriculum, and individualized attention has made a difference in only 1 week. I feel for the first time my children are no longer falling through the cracks and are regaining an interest in learning.

New to Lowell
Very very happy so far. My kid said they like it more than their prior school, the kids are nicer and they are excited to be there.

Another new to Lowell parent here. Couldn't be more pleased with that choice. I wish I'd known about Lowell years ago. I have another child at another school (Big 3, but I won't name it) that I am less happy with. It's a wonderful school in so many ways and I admit that I am proud that she goes there and I keep hoping that it will be a good fit for us, but I'm so aware that they have a model of their ideal student and I'm worried that as she gets older she'll start to feel pressured to conform to a type.

Another new Lowell parent. We are just thrilled so far. My DC wants to get up and go to school, and is happy at pick-up. It's a world of difference from our previous situation. Like PP, I hope it continues to be a good fit for DC.

I was trying to think of how to respond to the prior posters. That was perfect!

Let me be the first one to tarnish this thread. My DD is a new seventh-grader at NCS. She's pretty happy. She was so nervous last Monday morning that she couldn't eat, but she's now fitting in well and enjoying it: she likes four of her teachers and told me she was "looking forward" to her math class. So far, so good.

Switched from public to private. 3rd grade. Can't say she or me are too happy. Not thrilled about her classroom teacher.
