Am I being paranoid?

Well, did your parents ever chase each other with a drill and you had to call 911? I mean, how often do you see this in a white upper class neighborhood?

As FYI, we don't have very many "Mexicans" in this area at all, illegal or otherwise.

Well I grew up in a Richie rich gated community and the husband a few doors down from us murdered his family. But he never chased her down the street with a knife so I guess that makes it better?

I'm curious, whether anyone on this forum would actually volunteer to live in an area with multiple ethnic backgrounds and white is a minority, with a median income of $20,000/year.
Think about it and maybe stop being so hypocritical.

+1 I grew up comfortably in a homogenous neighborhood--around people that were quite wealthy--no one ever said "the poors" and no one ever dared lump all those phrases together. I think someone is pretending to be a pearl clutching 1%er.

BUT, on the off chance this is real... It's not 1954 OP, get over your value judgments.

You know damn well what the difference is. Give us all a break. I also grew up in a wealthy area where the relative of a supreme court justice did, dealt and was beaten up over drugs. Our house was broken into once. There were a couple of house fires. But I still can see the difference between that experience and the kind of constant crime and drug dealing and violence that goes on in poor areas.

Op, you are right, I would not want my child there.
Then, of course, I would be all politically correct explaining why

Why not, that is!

No, I wouldn't let my kid stay there. I might volunteer to move my MIL out of there too. Were they really fighting with electric drills?

If MIL wants to watch the baby, just have her come to your place.

That said, my dd's dad lived in a poor part of the city where there was lots of crime (mostly at night) and drugs. And my dd stayed with him and she's still as innocent as can be (at 8). He's moved now to a safer part of the city.

Pretty much goes withoit saying...

"what?" "who me?" "what are you talking about?"

PUUUUUUHLEEEEASE. So predictable. You know exactly what OP is saying.

I'd be more concerned about leaving your child overnight with a 75 year old grandparent that lives alone. At 75, she could kick the bucket any minute & your child would be alone with grandma dead on the kitchen floor.

Seriously? What are you, 20? 75 isn't that old.

To some people, appearances are everything.

I'm so sorry you were molested. No one should go though that, much less a child.
