Clara Violet

Not anymore.

I think both are pretty names, too, but together they just don't seem quite right. That said, how often do you really say a kid's full name? It might be a "problem" that isn't really that big of a problem.

I don't like the name combo. I also can't help by think of Violent went people use Violet as a name.

How about Clara Garnet or Clara Peridot?

Pick one or the other. Sounds like an instrument...clarinet/violin combo.

Seems like a mouthful. I also was thinking of Violet for our daughter then didn't, because the more I said it the more it just sounded like violent.

+ 1. Very pretty name.

Sounds like name of 19th century heroine in 2nd rate novel.

Both are "hard-sounding" names (begins with the hard c, ends with the hard t) - choose one of them, and pair with a name that is softer, like Rose or Belle - something that does not have a hard consonant.

I'm the PP who has a Clara.

We make a ton of jokes about her name. Clara-voyant was one. Clara-ty was another. Claraly, we have a pun problem.

This post makes me happy.

This was basically my husband's take on Clara, which is why we have a Lily. I love Clara. Oh well.

It's funny to me that people are saying "Clara" is trendy. We have a 5yo Clara, and it didn't even make the top 100 names when we named her.

Another mom of a Clara here. I obviously like that name, and I like Violet okay, but not together. But maybe it would flow better depending on the last name?

Side note - I think the name Clara must be exploding around this area. Since I had my Clara, I have come across several Claras. Before that, I don't think I ever met a Clara. I have met several Claires, though. Regardless, it's a good, solid name

I like Clara, but will you pronounce it "Clare-Ah" or "Clah-ra"?

No offense, but if you want my honest opinion, it sounds like one of those names that scream you are trying too hard to be noticed. Or trying too hard to have the prettiest name in the bunch.

Sorry. Just my silly two cents worth.

I may be giving myself away here but...I have three daughters, their middle names are Jade, Rose and Violet. Not kidding.

In each case, I kind of wish I used the middle names as their first names (which, turns out, are all in on the top 10/15 lists of baby names). We used family names/initials for the first names so they all have significant meaning for us.

Clara is a nice name, getting trendy, I've heard Claire a lot lately too. Why not go with Violet? So pretty.
