You do know that people of African descent can get skin cancer

Less likely, yes, and you don't need a sunburn to develop melanoma.

It's like breast cancer and men - people think it's only a woman's disease, but men can get breast cancer too.

White woman here. I had to have a toenail removed so they could biopsy something underneath it. Luckily not skin cancer BUT when I go for my full body skin checks (because I have had basal cell and squamous cell other places) I make sure to take off toenail polish so they can see under the nails.

Dark skinned people also NEED more sunlight because they have a hard time absorbing vitamin D. sun is not all bad. limited exposure, hats etc and sunblock in sensitive areas are all smart moves but people need sunlight too

Sure, right ... Next thing you're going to tell us is that black people are not immune to the common cold

Maybe not the best analogy.
I am white, under 50, and have had a melanoma. My doctor said that people with moles--regardless of race--are more likely to develop melanomas, regardless of sun exposure, etc. So, if you have moles, make sure you are going to a dermatologist for checkups. As some PPs have said, sunscreen isn't always enough.

The problem is that when AAs get skin cancer it tends to be more aggressive and deadly. That's why there are campaigns targeting us. And yes its a double whammy because we also have problems with absorbing vit D. Take D vitamins and use sunscreen.

So this PSA is only visible and sting where black people live?
Where is this mysterious OZ like "black community"?

I'm curious, are you white or black? Because I'm white, but I have definitely stumbled upon channels and literature that are clearly targeted to someone else.

Read the post I was responding to, poster says they are playing in "the black community", that's line saying only black folks' TV's air the ads.
She did not say ads "targeting " a particular demographic , big difference. We need to learn to check the narrative , there is no one black community, but there are lots of black people and , yes, a PSA can be directed towards that demographic.

I'm not following you somehow.
