Job A - $78,000
Job B - $61,500 Hours and commute are about the same. Thought friendship thing was a plus but PPs are correct, not a good idea in retrospect. Will go with A and work on paring down my debt. Thanks all. |

Properly analyzing this situation requires some additional information.
Are A and/or B in fields where employment/opportunity os growing (or shrinking)? What is your age? How old is your child? Assuming you are solvent at the lower salary, you are basically analyzing the performance of a long term investment (the foregone salary from A) to see if the returns (monetary and nonmonetary) from B are worth it, on a risk adjusted basis. The childs age matters because you need to be solvent theoughout the trade (taking B) to make it a viable option. |
