Slice

Toss in corn startch

Fry until golden

Serve w soy sauce, just like Japanese restaurants.

I do this (we're Chinese) but I pan fry instead of fry...less oil and less mess (we have a skillet screen to catch the spattering). Also, when getting the water out, I put a large can (usually a 28 oz can of tomatoes) on top of the plate. It helps speed the draining process.

We also offer more than one sauce. My kids like Hoisin sauce. Sweet chili sauce and peanut sauce also work well.

Is tofu one of those foods the docs say to wait until age 1 to give? Or can my 9 m.o. try it?

I have the yummiest recipe!

use 1 cup silken tofu
1/3 cup dark chocolate chips
cinnamon
2 tbsps. cocoa powder

blend with an immersion blender
pour into ramekins and chill for 3 hours

tastes like a rich nutty chocolate mousse, not super sugary.

Both of my toddlers love the extra-firm tofu (Twin Oaks brand is our favorite) cold with soy sauce. I just slice some, squeeze the moisture out with a clean tea towel or paper towel, then cube it and toss with soy sauce.

They also really like it diced up in miso soup, or just cubed (no soy sauce) with broccoli and a peanut or tahini sauce for dipping.
