When did the balance tip that made you move to be closer to family?

THanks all for the perspectives! I think that with just one infant we do have a little time to get this together- thinking maybe 5 years at most to try to decide.

One thing we have going for us is that we are both in industries that aren't particularly tied to this area at all. It will all work out. I'm just missing family this week I suppose. I really am so grateful for my wonderful circle of friends here too though. I would be lying to say it wouldn't be hard to leave them.

As we get older, this is one area where I can really see the difference in how DH and I were raised. And I work hard to not put a value judgement on that and just acknowledge that its different. His mom just wasn't that family oriented so I think its hard for him to understand that while my DH and DC are my #1, I don't like the idea of being just this separated nuclear family. If he had his way, we would probably move further away for the weather.
