Help me pick a vacation! (All Inclusive- Caribbean)

To the PP that would not recommend Punta Cana, what did you not like there? I'm thinking about a trip there with my family for Christmas holiday. Thanks!

I'm a PP that liked Punta Cana and I will say 1) we just stayed on the resort. If you want a place where you can experience the local culture I'd probably look elsewhere (maybe even elsewhere in the DR); 2) we liked the Hard Rock, but I can't speak to other resorts. Beach and pools are very nice. Food is decent (not fantastic, but enjoyable).

Try Sandals La Source Grenada. Or the Club Med in Guadaloupe.

NP. It just felt very...cheesy. You could NOT leave the resort really, not even to walk around town. It was rather dirty.

If I'm going to an all-inclusive obviously I'm not going to immerse myself in the culture completely, but I do like being able to see life outside the resort, walk into town, do a restaurant or two that's NOT part of the resort, and so on. That's not really possible in DR.

Tell me more, think I read not-so-great tripadvisor reviews on divi ....?

We tried RIU in Costa Rica, Breezes in the Bahamas, Club Med in Turks, Club Med (just about everywhere) and several places in Jamaica.

Hopefully, someone will come up with the one place in the DR that is great. I can't remember the name. It has nannies as part of the room rental.

Out of these, which one was the best?

Sandals is a lot of fun and the properties are beautiful.
