I hate my dog.

OP have you looked into bark collars?? It worked on my little dog. Also there are apps like Whistler that emit loud noises when it barks. Or birdhouses that you can buy off amazon that stop barking by emitting a loud noise.

At least he's just a dog. I feel this way about DH!

Levity break:

I though the subject line said, " I ATE MY DOG."

And so therefore, of course, I had to click.

Hi, we have tried several over the years. The noise ones did nothing. The spray ones nothing. I even bought a spray bottle myself to spray him when he barked. Everything got wet. Nothing positive came of it.

If anyone has a collar recommendation, I would happily take it.

If you hate your dog and keep it you are an abuser. A dog responds to love. Your dog sounds unhappy and it is your fault. Dogs are like children. If your child knew you hated it and treated it that way the child would act out to.

Haha, as a pp said, I am horrible but I did not eat the dog. Score 1 for me.

I am comfortable with my level of abuse considering it assures him medical care, food and shelter. If you can recommend someone who is will to provide the dog I've described with that and love it, then please share. However I cannot make myself love something that I do not.

Obama ate a dog.

Does the dog like you?

I wonder what his side of the story is. Like in the kids' book "Martha Speaks", we could make up a whole backstory based on what your dog would say.

Get one that shocks. It's not a bad shock but it's immediate

He is not kept in the crate most of the time. I SAH/WFH pt. DH also works from home often. Our house is rarely empty.

I only occasionally find things to do together because he is a happy neurotic mess. I cannot bring him to the playground. I cannot bring him to the dog park. He hates water. There was a thread about bringing dogs to open houses, perhaps he would like that.

What about a regular ol' walk?

Get rid of him. There is no need to be embarrassed if he is biting your baby.

I said in my op that he is walked. Regularly on a schedule (and on a non-retractable leash!).

We are using baby gates to separate them but it usually leaves one whining at the gate. So it's effective in that nobody is getting bit but annoying in that the dog is being provoked to make another noise.

Get rid of him. Seriously.

--dog lover.

(well, not of yappy neurotic toothless biting dogs)
