Hi there-
I was the troubled teen. Eating disorder, sexually active, abusing prescription pills... eventually during college I had to seek treatment for the aforementioned issues and now I am clean and sober. This may not be what you want to hear, but if your kid's issues are anything like mine were, you will sort of have to let them run their course... you can't raise his rock bottom. You will just alienate your kid. If he WANTS to get help support him 100% but don't shove it down his throat, he will just resent you. Let him know you are there for him but don't helicopter him. Unless he is a danger to others- i.e. violence or sexual assault. In that case he needs to be controlled. |
