Can we live through floor refinishing?

Not the OP but We just did it and just got back from the hotel today. Work started Monday and was done by Thursday afternoon. We did water based finish which requires three coats of finishing. House doesn't smell bad at all today. We used points for our four night hotel stay.

Op here. Thanks for the input. The cost is $3.50/ sq ft for refinishing and three coats of poly. We have an upstairs with separate entrance, but I'm not sure that sealing off stairs, even at top and bottom of stairs, will be enough.
