I just spent two weeks in NY, and everyone was wearing leggings, tall riding boots (with flat or nearly flat heals), and long sweaters. It looks great on thin people - then again most people in Manhattan are thin.

Ladies, ladies, it is the length of the skirt that makes it cheesy--as I said in one of my earlier posts. A short (well-above the knee) skirt with heeled boots is cheesy -- not ALL skirt/boot combos. And of course flat boots always look cool! |
not cheesy.
Cheesy is wearing multiple patterns or colors that don't go together. Or 3 shades of the same color, including black. Or shoes that so high that you look uncomfortable walking in them. |
I will take NYC fashion advice over DC any day! |
Oh, okay. A short skirt with heeled boots is cheesy but Jill Biden's skirt wasn't short. It was just above the knee, wasn't it? Short is not right above the knee, short is mid-thigh. Also, I thought that Michelle Obama should have looked more gorgeous and glamorous as the First Lady than Jill Biden as VP's wife. If Jill Biden had been equally dressed it would have been akin to the MIL (or SIL) wearing a white gown at her son's wedding. Michelle should have outshown Jill as was right and proper. Kudos to Jill for recognizing this. |
Does cheesy include motorcycle boots over colorful kneesocks over tights with a knit skirt, a hoodie, and a knit hat? Because if it does, I am rocking cheesey right now. |
I gotta agree. The skirt was too short. But I wouldn't call it cheesy just inappropriate. Fine for a 20 something for work. Too casual and too young for Jill Biden and the inauguration. |
I thought she looked fab. I remarked to my husband that she has great legs and great knees (my lack of which is why I rarely wear shorts). |
And here I thought that J Biden looked much better than M Obama ! Simple, streamlined and elegant.
Skirt and boots = not cheesy at all. My former Parisian self agrees with the NY mom. |
I'm a new poster, also from NY, and I agree with you. I thought she looked wonderful. So we've got two votes from NYC and one from Paris. Interesting. |
8:33 here again. I am a former NYCer so you also have one vote from NYC against. |
