Recommendations for something to watch now that Mad Men is over?

The Americans! Sooo good. FX on demand. Go.

OP here. Thanks for the recommendations. I may try Nurse Jackie and The Americans. Six Feet Under is one of my all time favorites (and has the best ending of any series ever, pretty much). I suppose nothing will ever fully replace Mad Men for me... I get really obsessed when it's on.

I'm the pp who was so distraught when Six Feet Under ended. I agree, the ending was the best. It's the only series finale that I've ever been 100% pleased with. I too get so obsessed with Mad Men! Good luck with finding a new series. I don't know what I'm going to do without it!

OP, you sound a lot like me. I like well done TV, but not the dark, violent stuff. I tried The Americans, and while it has a good premise, the violence was just too much for me.

Nurse Jackie is wonderful. I don't have Showtime anymore, so I haven't been able to see the current season.

I recorded a bunch of Land Girls episodes from PBS UK late last year but have only watched the first one so far. Pretty good.

How about The Fosters on ABC Family? The new season starts on June 16, I think. The show is about a blended family (several foster kids, adopted kid, bio kid, two moms), and is very well written and acted. You might also like Parenthood for the writing as well, if you are into family shows.

One of the dozens of shows miles better than MM.

I didn't think I would like Breaking Bad after watching Mad Men but it is awesome. Give it a try. I love character development shows and that one fits the bill. Also orange is the new black is pretty good.

I couldn't get into Orange for some reason...

Does this pick up speed after the first 2 episodes? I starting watching as a suggestion from watching Mad Men but I haven't been able to get into it.

I love it.
