Hanging up?

Whenever I call my Mother and she does not like what I say, the tone of my voice, the way I word something, she just hangs up on me. Mid-sentence, it doesn't matter. She will just hang up. When I try to call her back, Sometimes she answers, but hangs up again...othertimes she just wont answer.

I don't know what to do. I'm about to tell her to not contact me anymore...If she can't control herself and takes everything out on me, I dont really want to have a relationship with her. Am I overreacting?

I have a rude mother who just wants to complain about her problems and isn't really interested in my life or my son beyond "Are you still alive?" I swear, it's just a check-in call.

I've stopped calling her unless I really need to. And lately I find I don't really need to at all. I'll take the call if she calls me. I don't expect to have any meaningful conversation - she asks if we are well and she might say we should meet up to do something and then we arrange that, and then it's ok bye.

OP - I wouldn't announce that you're no longer having a relationship with her (is she better in person?). Just stop calling her. Find someone else to listen to you or support you because your mother is not going to be that person.
