My sister went there and she got in so I'm guessing it helps out alot so I've been searching for it and cannot find any information.

I also heard this year they are using the PSAT instead of the other test.

It's very exclusive and generally filled well before it begins.

The test prep class at University Park elementary school started 2 weeks ago. Sign ups start the first week of school. It's big this year - 45 kids. It costs $250. They originally had a waiting list but were able to get a second teacher so they accepted everyone. If you email today and if there's an available seat in the classroom, you may be able to get in for this Friday. Email Kate Murray, katemurraylib@gmail.com

If that doesn't work out, you could go to http://www.innovativetestprep.com/

If that's the case, then you are lucky! So much test prep out there for the PSAT. Start with the free resources on Khan academy.

I tried this test prep company last year and found that they were really, really flakey! Tried to set up an appointment. They said they'd get back to me and then never did even after repeated calls and messages. It was actually kind of weird - but a clear signal that they didn't want my business.

We went and asked but they said they were full so now I don't know what to do.

Is there anyone else I can email

If they're using the PSAT, just go to khan academy and do the free prep.

The entrance test requirement changed this year. It is the PSAT. It is the same for all the specialty programs kids have to test into. See:

It seems weird to me that the entrance test for 8th graders is a standarized test that is intended for high school juniors. Any explanation as to why they are using this? I don't see one anywhere.

Just did a little digging and it's the PSAT 8/9 not the same one taken in high school.

Well the old one wasn't really much of any kind of a useful test. They never told you what it was, but I dug around one time, and it was some obscure test usually used for career counseling.

I just took the test today, and it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I don't know if it's because I'm in challenging courses but less than half of what I studied was on the test. The only problem is that there is not enough time to finish each section and I ended up not finishing the last question on the last section but that's okay, it's only one missed.

Yeah, I've heard the time complaint from other 8th graders who have taken the PSAT this year. I bet the test is revised for that next year.
