Dexter, Breaking Bad or.....

I did Six Feet Under during my maternity leave. Breaking bad is awesome and edge of your seat.

For some reason Mad Men puts me in a grumpy mood. I think it's because, I don't know how many seasons they are in, but the main characters just make the same mistakes over and over--I don't see the character development, it's like, "ok, here we go again, just another iteration of the same thing." And nobody to root for; they are all morally bankrupt.

I did like House of Cards.

I really like The Americans. It is unpredictable and fun with all the disguises.

I loved the The Wire. I think I must be the only person in the DMV area who couldn't get into Breaking Bad, though. I stopped watching after 2-3 seasons. I just found it unrelentingly depressing, maybe because it's one long spiral down whereas with The Wire there's a new plot every season and some hope of redemption for maybe some characters. I'm obviously in the minority, though.

First season of the wire was okay, HATED season two s well as subsequent seasons for the exception of the one with the school kids.

I thought the dialogue was forced and that it was poorly written.

I'm the only other person who also couldn't get into Breaking Bad!! I watched two episodes, and it just made me tense and the agony of the sad-sack situations was not enjoyable. You're not alone, PP!

NP here. Everyone recommends Breaking Bad, but I've never watched it. There's some meth addiction in my family of origin, and it's just gut-wrenching. I think BB would hit too close to home. It's good to hear that some people aren't crazy about it - I'd wondered if I'm missing out on a spectacular show.

Absolutely Breaking Bad. We loved Dexter until the 4th season or so and then it went downhill - finale was terrible enough to ruin the show for me. I personally love Mad Men, DH thinks it's depressing for the same reasons PP stated. We are watching the Fargo miniseries right now and love it - also watch Game of Thrones, Walking Dead and Homeland. All good for different reasons but BB wins, hands down.
