| I did Six Feet Under during my maternity leave. Breaking bad is awesome and edge of your seat. |

For some reason Mad Men puts me in a grumpy mood. I think it's because, I don't know how many seasons they are in, but the main characters just make the same mistakes over and over--I don't see the character development, it's like, "ok, here we go again, just another iteration of the same thing." And nobody to root for; they are all morally bankrupt.
I did like House of Cards. I really like The Americans. It is unpredictable and fun with all the disguises. |
| I loved the The Wire. I think I must be the only person in the DMV area who couldn't get into Breaking Bad, though. I stopped watching after 2-3 seasons. I just found it unrelentingly depressing, maybe because it's one long spiral down whereas with The Wire there's a new plot every season and some hope of redemption for maybe some characters. I'm obviously in the minority, though. |
| Breaking bad for sure.. I liked 6 feet under.. could not get engaged into MM.. |
| OP again, you all have me really psyched for these shows! |
|
First season of the wire was okay, HATED season two s well as subsequent seasons for the exception of the one with the school kids.
I thought the dialogue was forced and that it was poorly written. |

Love loved Breaking Bad.
The Shield is an excellent story too. addictive and totally unpredictable. |
I'm the only other person who also couldn't get into Breaking Bad!! I watched two episodes, and it just made me tense and the agony of the sad-sack situations was not enjoyable. You're not alone, PP! |
| Breaking Bad! Incredible show. Dexter doesn't compare. |
| The Americans is SOOO good. Fun, too. |
NP here. Everyone recommends Breaking Bad, but I've never watched it. There's some meth addiction in my family of origin, and it's just gut-wrenching. I think BB would hit too close to home. It's good to hear that some people aren't crazy about it - I'd wondered if I'm missing out on a spectacular show. |
| Absolutely Breaking Bad. We loved Dexter until the 4th season or so and then it went downhill - finale was terrible enough to ruin the show for me. I personally love Mad Men, DH thinks it's depressing for the same reasons PP stated. We are watching the Fargo miniseries right now and love it - also watch Game of Thrones, Walking Dead and Homeland. All good for different reasons but BB wins, hands down. |
